ABPA Backgammon (published by Mattel Electronics) is an officially licensed digital version of the classic board game, released for the Intellivision console in 1980. The game allows players to compete against either a human opponent or the built-in computer, which features two difficulty levels.
Core Game Features
  • Modes of Play: Supports 1 or 2 players.
  • Gameplay: Follows standard backgammon rules, identical to the classic board game.
  • Computer Opponent: Offers basic artificial intelligence with two difficulty tiers.
  • Interface: Uses the signature Intellivision controller with a required number keypad overlay.
  • Side Button Features: Allows players to check their "pip count" (the total number of moves required to remove all pieces from the board).
  • Compilation: It was later re-released in the multi-game cartridge Triple Challenge.
